6th Workshop on River and Sedimentation Hydrodynamics and Morphodynamics

ABOUT

The main purpose of this workshop is to exchange and disseminate the knowledge about dam-breach processes and its modelling strategies.

The workshop will be held on a strictly non-competitive basis. The aim is not rank models or modellers but to map the limitations of current approaches and devise paths to improve modelling capabilities.

At this event, the results of a dam breaching experimental tests will be presented to the participants and later discussed in two phases: the blind test results and the necessary tuning.

It will be a mixed ONLINE and in-person event, to be attended by the all registered modellers and open for the scientific community and end-users.

News

  • NEW: Workshop program
  • New workshop dates – discussion of the blind phase (on-line only) between the 24th and the 26th November 2021
  • Visualization of Test T2 – overtopping of zoned dam; find it here (10th September)
  • Visualization of Test T1 – overtopping of homogeneous dam; find it here (26th June)
  • Experimental conditions to set up simulations of test T1 have been sent to the modellers on the 18th May 2021

KEY DATES

  • The registered modellers will receive the details of experimental conditions until the 28th May 2021
  • The raw results of the numerical simulation should be submitted by the 15th September 2021
  • The discussion of the raw results will take place, online, between the 24th and the 26th November 2021
  • The final discussion of the tuned results will take place in February 2022

HOW TO PARTICIPATE?

Modellers should manifest their interest in participating and register (NO FEES) until the 7th May 2021.

The number of registered modellers is restricted to 40, and the number of numerical models is restricted to 20, due to logistic reasons.
