Dr. Vasco Bonifácio will be the next Chemforum speaker

On  Wednesday, April the 5th, we’ll have a talk by Dr. Vasco Bonifácio, from CQFM, IST. Dr. Vasco Bonifácio graduated in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, and received his PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2006. After a post-doc in Germany he was appointed Assistant Researcher of MIT Portugal and invited Assistant Professor at FCT/UNL. He recently moved to IST, where he is a CQFM Researcher and also an invited Assistant Professor. He was a Visiting Researcher at MIT and Bordeaux University. On Wednesday, March the 22nd, we’ll have a talk by Dr. Maria João Ferreira, from CQE. M.J. Ferreira (MJF) graduated in Chemical Engineering, with specialization in Applied Chemistry, from IST in 1998. She worked in the Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry (IST) as a Research Assistant (1999-2001) and as a PhD student (2001- 2006) with Prof. A.M. Martins where she synthesized and studied the reactivity of Ti and Zr complexes. Barbara Milani was born in 1965; she received the Master degree in Chemistry, cum laude, in 1989 at the University of Trieste (Italy). In 1994 she obtained the PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Trieste under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Mestroni. On February the 8th we’ll have a talk by Pedro Adão from CQE, IST. Pedro graduated in Chemistry in 2005 from Faculdade de Ciências of University of Lisbon. In early 2006, he joined CQE as a Research Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Correia and co-supervision of Prof. João Costa Pessoa. On November the 9th we’ll have a talk by Dr. Luís Alves from CQE, IST. Luis Alves (1983) obtained his MSc in chemistry at IST-UTL, Portugal, in 2007 with the experimental work conducted at TUWien, Austria, under supervision of Prof. Karl Kirchner. The PhD in chemistry was obtained in 2012 at IST-UTL, Portugal, under supervision of Prof. Ana Martins. Dra Sónia Carabineiro will be the next Chemforum speaker

On October, the 26th we’ll have a talk by Dra. Sonia Carabineiro from FEUP. Sónia Carabineiro completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2001 at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Later she was a postdoctoral researcher (2001-2003) at Leiden University (The Netherlands) and at Instituto Superior Técnico (2004-2007). On December 2007 she joined the University of Porto as an Assistant Researcher, becoming Principal Researcher since December 2013. She has been working mostly in catalysis by gold, (mixed) metal oxides, carbon materials and composites, heterogenisation of homogenous complexes on heterogeneous supports.
